My name is Karen, and I created Better Sugar to educate you on all the alternatives to refined sugar. I admit that I love sugar. I love everything sweet, and I never really thought about my refined sugar intake until I started watching a healthy cooking show on public television. The host kept using something called brown rice syrup. She said it was used in place of refined sugar. Since I loved everything about sugar, I wanted to explore this healthier alternative to refined sugar. And that's how Better Sugar was created.
Through my research, I have discovered that refined sugar is really pretty bad for you. I was disappointed that the thing I loved was not very good for me, but my disappointment did not last long when I found out that there are so many better sugars out there. Until recently, I thought the only substitutes for refined sugar came in little pink and blue packets. Those sugar substitutes give me headaches and leave a bad taste in my mouth, literally and figuratively. Natural sugars like brown rice syrup, agave nectar, erythritol, etc, do not taste fake and do not leave me feeling worse off. On the contrary, they make me feel good knowing I am doing something healthy for myself.
